Do you have a passion project? If you don’t… you need one. A passion project is basically something you do (other than your job) that you are passionate about. Something that makes you happy. Something that doesn’t feel like work. You are looking at my very first passion project. This blog. As a full time working mom of 2, I didn’t just wake up one day and think, “I don’t have enough to do, let me start a blog.” Trust me, my schedule was packed long before Working Mom Magic came along.
I started this blog because I wanted to. I needed a place to write things beyond breaking news stories. I thought I had good ideas and wanted to share them. With each post, the love for my little place on the internet grew. So did my community. I have met amazing people both in real life and virtually through this outlet. In fact, three people I met through this blog brought me to my newest passion project.
I am in a Facebook group with these ladies, and over the years our virtual connection has transformed into a real friendship. You may remember Julie, from Girl on the Move Blog. We kicked off a Periscope Challenge last year, called #SeptemberScopers. And it took off. We had hundreds of people taking part at one point, and it continued for months. The community that formed out of that challenge was amazing. Some of the most awesome people I have ever met, I found through that periscope challenge.
A few months ago, Julie reached out to me and two other gals (Joanna from Motherhood and Merlot and Cajun from Blooming in Bedlam) to see if there was a way we could bring that community feel to a website. A website that we would start TOGETHER. A place where women could find real advice and real support… from REAL women. And Strong Girl Collective was born. No pinterest perfect lives here, no judgement, no mean girls. At Strong Girl Collective, our vision is to create a community of diverse women empowered and equipped to live life to the fullest and be the best possible version of themselves. By sharing our experiences with you, we hope to help you lead a life driven by passion and purpose.
We launched a month ago and I would love for you to check it out! We also have a Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter account. Julie, Joanna, Cajun and I have a ton of fun stuff planned for this site!! That is what a passion project is all about! Find something that brings you joy. Do you want to bring women together? Are you passionate about creating art or jewelry? Find what it is that makes you tick and go for it! What are you waiting for?
